Comments:
In the "Apostoloi ek peraton" we used
in the beginning etero-se-iso-anw in
the 2 first ‘o’ of the syllable ‘to’
in the word "peraton", and then the
neat etero-se-iso-anw in the other two
‘o’ of the syllable ‘o’ of the word
chorio. We deliberately did this to
see the difference in the analysis of
the two. We recommend readers to
download from ‘Anemi’ the abone
Anastasimatarion to be able to see the
lines in Byzantine notation. We would
like to thank the protopsaltes of St.
Titus Church in Heraklion and music
teacher, elected E.DI.P. member and
Professor of the Patriarchal
University Ecclesiastical Academy of
Crete in Heraklion Mr. Andreas
Yakoumakis for the partition of the
Canon into bars and its decorating
with the Isokratemata. The sounds of
the mid file is frenich horn for the
main voice (V: 1) while for the
isokratema (V: 1) we chose the %%MIDI
program 54, ie. Voice Oohs. We can
certainly put any instruments we want.
In wav and mp3 we chose the
combination of the violin and the
cello. As we have already mentioned,
if we have a mid file then we can
decorate it in whatever timbre we like(soundfont).
Peter of
Ephesus was the leading publisher of the
first printed music editions. He tried
with infinite respect to imprint in his
publications the beauty of the music
manuscripts circulating in his era. We are
under the impression that his publications
remain unparalleled and of course are the
musical "gospels" for those who exercise
our sacred art. In 1830 he published the
second volume of the Service of Mattins.
From this volume, we chose his first page
of the "Axion Estin" in Second sound. On
our first attempt, we chose to record in
abc almost completely metrophonically,
therefore digorga, for example, as well as
all the other characters were accurately
recorded. The result was naturally cool
and metrophonical. On our second attempt,
we analyzed the time markings based on our
intuition with appropriate bendstring
commands. The result was acoustically
better and was closer to the way a
chanter/intoner performs it.
It is worth experimenting with the new
commands that we defined in the preface as
the p-dig-2-xronoi (digorgo on the left
dotted with a duration of 2 periods),
gor-pp-2-xronoi (brisk double dotted on
the right with a duration of 2 periods)
pp-gor-2-xronoi (brisk double dotted on
the left with a duration of 2 periods) and
so on, to achieve as much as possible a
realistic sound.
