Evangelos Markakis received his four-year diploma in Applied Informatics & Multimedia from the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Greece, in 2003 and his MSc in Data Communication Systems from Brunel University in 2005. Since 2008 he is a Ph.D. candidate with the University of the Aegean, Department of Information & Communication Systems Engineering. He joined Computer and Communication Systems Laboratory in 2008. He has actively participated in several EU funded projects (IST-2001-34692 “REPOSIT”, IST-2002-FP6-507312 “ATHENA”, IST-2004-FP6-027457 “IMOSAN”, FP7-214751 “ADAMANTIUM”, FP7- 216006 “HURRICANE”, FP7-ICT-224287 “VITAL++”) and a large number of national research projects funded by GSRT (General Secretariat for Research & Technology of Greece). Currently he is involved within the FP7-ICT-248652 “ALICANTE”, and a variety of Greek national research projects. His research interests are in the fields of network protocol mechanisms, Real Time Communications, multimedia applications, satellite communications, digital video broadcasting (DVB) technologies, digital interactive television systems and services, and P2P Networks.He has more than 15 publications in international journals, conference and workshop proceedings, in the above areas. He is member of IEEE.
